PART-3

Lily's sobs echoed through the room, her tears streaming down her face as she screamed at Ben, "Why are you paying attention to him? This is our day, not his!" But what came next was even more shocking. Jessica, who had been standing by my side in silence, suddenly stepped forward and boldly declared, "You know, Ben, you deserve this. I remember all too well how you played with my feelings while you were already eyeing Lily." Her words hit like a bomb, and the guests who had been quiet until then now watched in stunned silence.

Ben stood frozen, his face a mixture of anger and disbelief as he glared at Jessica. Meanwhile, Lily, overwhelmed with desperation, shouted, "I should never have invited you, you ungrateful jerk! I just wanted to show you that I'm better off without you!" I simply shrugged and replied, "And I wanted to see if you really were. Apparently, you still have something to prove to me."

By now, security was beginning to approach, but Jessica and I were already heading for the exit. As we walked out, I could still hear Lily and Ben's furious shouts echoing in the hall. What was supposed to be a fairytale wedding had crumbled into chaos, and strangely, I felt a sense of satisfaction at seeing her finally get a taste of her own medicine.

On our way out, Jessica asked, "Do you think we went too far?" I chuckled softly and replied, "We went just as far as we needed to."

In the days that followed, rumors began circulating. Ben and Lily had a huge fight, and their marriage was already on the rocks. She tried desperately to keep up appearances, posting smiling photos on social media and attending public events as though everything was fine. But I knew Lily well enough to see through her fake smile. A storm was brewing, and it was only a matter of time before it exploded.

The storm came faster than expected. I soon heard that their honeymoon had turned into a nightmare. The moment their plane landed at the exotic destination, Ben, who had been quiet during the wedding debacle, finally exploded with anger. He couldn't shake off the humiliation of what had happened in front of everyone. They fought constantly, the tension so thick it could be cut with a knife. Ben accused Lily of deliberately inviting me and Jessica, while she cried, defending herself and claiming that it was just a show. The fights continued, and by the end of the trip, their once-dreamy honeymoon was nothing but a disaster.

When they returned home, things only got worse. Ben, who had never been particularly concerned about money, suddenly started pressuring Lily to contribute more financially. The extravagant wedding and honeymoon had drained him, and now the cracks in their relationship were showing more than ever. Each day brought new arguments—about money, who was contributing more, and what their future held.

Then one day, a mutual friend called me with some juicy gossip. Lily had moved back in with her parents after an argument so intense that the neighbors almost called the police. "You won't believe this," my friend said, barely able to contain their excitement. "They're practically separated! From what I heard, Ben kicked her out!" I did my best to hide my satisfaction, but deep down, I couldn't help but smile. Ben, the perfect wealthy guy, was now alone in the house his father had bought him, while Lily was forced to return to the very place she had fought so hard to escape.

A few weeks later, I found out that Ben had discovered old messages from Lily, revealing how she had used my generosity to save money during our time together. That was the last straw for him. He supposedly told one of their mutual friends, "She used me just like she used to." The humiliation he felt during the wedding mixed with the bitter realization that, to her, he was just another pawn. Ben felt betrayed, and Lily, seeing her marriage slipping away, spiraled into despair.

Around that time, Lily started trying to contact me again. At first, it was just simple messages, like she wanted to explain what happened at the wedding. Then came the phone calls—one after another—where she cried, begging me for help, saying that Ben had left her with nothing. I ignored every attempt, blocking each new number she used to try and reach me. I had done my part; she had humiliated me, used me, and tried to step on me. Now, she was sinking on her own.

One evening, as I was leaving work, I bumped into Jessica. We ended up grabbing coffee together, and she had the latest gossip. "Did you hear? Ben put the house up for sale," she said, grinning mischievously. "Looks like things didn't go as well as he expected. And from what I hear, his parents aren't too happy with him either. He’s lost their financial support." I couldn't help but laugh. The great Ben, once untouchable in his privileged position, was now scrambling to sell the house he had flaunted to impress Lily.

Months passed, and eventually, Lily stopped trying to contact me. She had clearly realized there was nothing more she could gain from me. As for me, I was living my best life. My career was thriving, and living alone had given me the space I needed to start fresh.

One night, while I was watching a movie, I got a message from Jessica. She had seen a long social media post from Lily, talking about learning from her mistakes and valuing those who were by her side. It was a clear attempt to paint herself as the victim after everything she had done. I laughed and replied to Jessica, "Some people never change." Deep down, I knew that even if Lily tried to rewrite her version of the story, I had come out on top. She had tried to humiliate me, but in the end, she had sunk into her own arrogance. Ben, the grand prize in her life, had become a reminder that appearances don’t last forever. And as for me, I had moved on, free from both of them, with the satisfaction of knowing that the best revenge was simply watching their relationship crumble without lifting a finger.
